Breathing Color’s Acrylic Gesso Paint is a premium gesso for canvas based on the same Canvas Primer used on our world-class inkjet canvases.
This is crucial when choosing a gesso for acrylic painting as you are choosing the foundational layer of your art. Acrylic gesso primes the surface for painting by giving it a light texture that makes it ready to absorb acrylic paint. Choosing the right gesso canvas primer will give you the best surface to apply your paint, making it easier to create your next masterpiece.

If your surface has already been primed and you don't apply a second coat of gesso, the acrylic paint may bleed into the canvas's weave. Gesso canvas primer will only produce a smoother surface and facilitate acrylic paint absorption into the canvas. For the best results, we recommend applying one or two additional coats of our premium acrylic gesso primer to your canvas.
Our canvas gesso is extremely easy to use! Use a broad, flat brush to apply the gesso, and if you are covering a larger surface, use a bigger brush. Always make sure to completely cover the canvas when applying the gesso!
