Pick your perfect match
The best way to get to know Breathing Color is with a little hands on experience. We recommend ordering a Trial Roll, Sample Pack, or Swatch Book and doing a little browsing before you jump into your first full-sized roll.
Our goal at Breathing Color is to aid artists, photographers and printmakers create and share the things that matter most to them. We believe a stunning visual identity starts at the heart. That’s why Breathing Color’s award-winning media begins with the inkjet receptive coating. This unique chemistry, when delicately applied to our hand selected catalog of bases forms the net that catches your magic moments- the thoughts, notions, and ideas worthy of sharing.
When it comes to selecting a paper or canvas on which to display your work, the last thing you should worry about is how it's going to translate. The result of years of R&D, our products have been formulated to objectively higher standards of Optical Density, Tone Reproduction, Tonal Range, Line Quality and Brightness than our competitors. Read: your work has never been so faithfully reproduced.
Profile for awhile
A hero is only as good as her weapon. Without the correct profile to accompany your inkjet media, all the file editing in the world won't give you the results you want. Head over to our ICC Library for simple instructions on how to get the profiles you need installed in as little as 30 seconds.
What is an ICC Profile?
Simply put- a digital description of the color attributes of your printer. An ICC Profile signals your computer to adjust print parameters so your prints turn out with unequivocal color and precise ink load. For example: imagine you send the exact same file to two printers made by different (or even the same) manufacturers. Due to variations in hardware and software, those printers will translate the data received from your computer differently. An ICC profile is your interpreter ensuring everyone is speaking the same language.
But do I really need one?
Yes. In fine art reproduction, just as in art we rely on consistency to empower creativity. If you doled out some Cadmium Red paint but it changed hue just as you applied it to a canvas you could never hope to get your desired or replicable results. Without an expertly crafted ICC profile your inkjet printer is a color chimera. And what you see on the screen is not what you will see on your print. An ICC Profile is the key to consistency.
What makes BC profiling different?
Same thing that makes BC media different- attention to detail and a little human touch. Our Color Experts are constantly expanding our library of profiles. Don't see the profile you need? Print studios can charge hundreds of dollars for custom profiling, but Breathing Color is the ONLY inkjet media manufacturer that offers custom profiling absolutely free of charge. Contact our Customer Support team for assistance with all your profiling needs.
Print. Coat. Complete.
You're almost there. Now is when the fun starts. Send the job and watch your work unfurl. Most Breathing Color media dries in seconds, but depending on ink load, temperature and humidity, it may be necessary to let your prints dry before proceeding.
Coating your prints with a high quality, archival varnish like our Timeless ensures a crack-free, even sheen that will never flake or peel. Formulated with UV protectants and moisture inhibitors, our coatings lend prints extreme longevity. Our NO-LAM Canvas has a coating pre-applied, but we recommend coating all matte canvas for reliable durability.
Just think of it as your art's insurance policy.
