BREATHING COLOR FOUNDER NICHOLAS FRIEND RECEIVES ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD FROM ORANGE COUNTY BUSINESS JOURNAL

Orange, Calif. – (BUSINESS WIRE) – February 19, 2007 –

Breathing Color, Inc. (“BC”) founder and President Nicholas Friend was recently honored with the Orange County Business Journal’s 2007 Excellence in Entrepreneurship Awards.  The Excellence in Entrepreneurship Awards is an annual program designed to recognize individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary accomplishments and have positively impacted the Orange County business community.  Friend was honored specifically for his role with Breathing Color, Inc., leading designer and supplier of award-winning inkjet canvas, fine art papers, and post-print protective coatings. 

Friend has lived in Newport Beach, CA since 1986 and comes from a lineage of successful and recognized entrepreneurs.  His father Larry Friend was a founder of the Phoenix Suns NBA Basketball Team, the Los Angeles Aztecs Professional Soccer Team, and the investment banking firm L.H. Friend, Weinress, Frankson, and Presson Inc.  Although his father passed away when he was 18 years old, Friend went on to start multiple ventures of his own which began with Schematics Productions Inc., a men’s apparel company.  Friend founded Schematics Productions while a full-time college student. 

Friend attended the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, a school recognized as having “one of the best entrepreneurship programs” in the country by Business Week, and is ranked among the best by U.S. News and World Report.  Friend’s studies emphasized Finance, Investments and Entrepreneurship. 

On the philanthropic front, Friend regularly contributes his time as well as resources to fine art and photography schools and other organizations across the United States.  Recently, Friend orchestrated a large donation of Breathing Color digital fine art papers and canvas to the Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Art for the benefit of its young students.
